23rd Annual Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival

eventdetail

It might seem a little crazy eating some major heat during the Texas summer, but that's never stopped people from the warm climates of Mexico or India from using copious amounts of hot stuff in every dish. Starting in 1990, the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival is the largest in the world with up to 15,000 spectators and 350 entries. Not only does the festival crown the best hot sauce out there, it also serves as a major fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas.

Admission is free with three healthy, nonperishable food items or a cash donation. Enjoy live music from performers including Rosie Flores & the Rivetors, the Preservation and more.

Just be sure to avoid any Guatemalan Insanity Peppers.
