The American Heart Association is committed to helping our community live stronger, healthier lives through education, research and public policies that effect where we live, learn and play. The Heart Ball of Austin is an event that focuses on celebrating all of the local successes of the AHA while raising funds for research and initiatives preventing heart disease and stroke in the Austin-area. Additionally, the 2016 event will include live and silent auctions, special guest speakers, and live entertainment by Lonestar.
Bill Powers will serve as the Honorary Chairman for the Heart Ball. Powers holds the Joseph D. Jamail Chair in Tort Law at The University of Texas at Austin (UT). He also serves of counsel at Jackson Walker L.L.P. Powers has been serving the Austin community for nearly four decades, including as a professor and dean in the UT School of Law, and most recently as the second-longest serving president in UT Austin history (2006-2015).
