For the 4th year, Austin Shakespeare will collaborate with the Austin Chamber Music Festival to highlight Shakespeare’s theatrical poetry in a joint performance. Side by side with an eclectic selection of chamber music, this year will feature fantasy in Scenes from The Tempest.

Six professional actors in costume will bring to life the story of a wizard who once was a duke, Prospero (Rick Roemer), who is now abandoned on a magical island with his daughter Miranda (Rachel Wolff). The audience will meet creatures of the island: the gentle Ariel (Taylor Flanagan) and the monstrous Caliban (Devin Finn). Recently abandoned on the island by the storm are Prince Ferdinand (John Austin), a fool Trinculo (Max Green) and a drunkard (Harsh Joshi).

Pianist Michelle Schumann, artistic director of Austin Chamber Music Center, will lead a wonderful trio including violinist Sonja Larson and cellist Norma Karakousoglou playing music from Beethoven, Björk, Bartok and Bach.
