Easy Tiger Bake Shop & Beer Garden will introduce the handcrafted spirits of Vikre Distillery to the Austin market with a five-course Nordic Smørrebrød Dinner paired with Vikre’s Aquavits and Cedar Gin.

Head Doughpuncher David Norman and Executive Chef Andrew Curren collaborated on the menu, starting with classic Nordic combinations and adding a Texas twist. Smørrebrød are opulent, open-faced sandwiches served in Denmark in successive courses accompanied by beer and shots of Aquavit, a centuries-old, traditionally Scandinavian spirit flavored with botanicals.

For the pairing, David will bake hearty Danish Rugbrød loaves incorporating Texas-grown, locally milled rye flour and whole rye berries, as well as a special version loaded with cherries and pecans for the cheese course. To top the bread, Chef Andrew will be smoking Gulf mackerel, adding Gulf shrimp to a creamy housemade crème fraîche and slicing smoked brisket to layer over a brisk horseradish butter. Antonelli’s Cheese Shop helped source an authentic Danish blue cheese for the dinner, and David will close the meal with a Swedish apple cake for dessert.
