Jolt presents Poderosa Live Mural

eventdetail

The Latino civic engagement organization Jolt is hosting a live mural titled Poderosa. The live mural will celebrate the strength of immigrant mothers and send a message to lawmakers that Latinos will resist SB4, and all efforts to tear apart families. Poderosa is a portrait of an immigrant mother from Austin and her children created by artist Claudia Gizell Aparicio-Gamundi.

In Texas, 1 out of 7 children live with at least one undocumented family member, leaving too many kids at risk of being separated from their mothers. The bond between parent and child is sacred and must be respected by all, including our elected officials.

Poderosa is a traveling mural; after it’s completed it will be displayed around the city of Austin to remind lawmakers that immigrant mothers are powerful and must be treated with dignity.

Jolt is a civic engagement organization based in Texas with the goal to increase Latino voter turnout so that the Latino community gains the respect, dignity, and power it deserves.
