The Russell Collection presents the art of Peter Max
The influential pop art of Peter Max will be on display at the Russell Collection Fine Art Gallery, including his latest work featuring Marilyn Monroe.
Max first met Monroe in the 50s and was fascinated by her beauty. Now over 60 years later Monroe is the muse in Max's most recent series — painting her in his colorful style based off of Milton Greene's high fashion photographs of the pop icon. Other pieces in the Russell Collection exhibit include Max's famous "Statue of Liberty," the "Flag" pieces, "Umbrella Man" and his Masters series' interpretations of Vincent Van Gogh, Monet, Pablo Picasso, Renoir and Edgar Degas.
Peter Max himself will be at the exhibit for two special appearances on October 25th and 26th. More information on those events can be found here.
