Since 2002, a collection of Austin's finest actors, directors and technicians have been presenting professional theatre pieces at the Penn Field stages of the Austin Playhouse. With two intimate theatre spaces, they have brought contemporary award-winners and new play readings to Austin's theatre-loving community. The subscribers are generally older and prefer their theatre more traditional than the shows you'll find on the experimental East Side. With donations, The Austin Playhouse will soon relocate to a state-of-the-art permanent home on Airport Blvd., complete with three theaters, a scene and costume shop, art gallery, cafe and attached artists' lofts.
