Barton Creek Greenbelt
The Barton Creek Greenbelt is 7.9 miles of lush and wild terrain that will fill any adventure's heart with excitement. The Greenbelt wraps around Austin starting at Zilker park and ending at Westlake. It's divided into three areas: the lower greenbelt, the upper greenbelt and the Barton Creek Wilderness Park. The layout of Greenbelt makes it an optimal area for a variety of outdoor activities, like hiking, mountain biking, swimming, rock climbing, kayaking, cliff diving and whatever else you can think of in this wide expanse of land. There are routes and trails to different areas of interest, popular among visitors are Twin Falls, Camel Hole, Gus Fruh, Airman's cave and a number of other climbing and swimming spots. It's easy forget that you're in the middle of the city with the beautiful views and fresh air.
Dogs are welcome, but there is a strict leash rule, your pet must always be leashed.
Bikers and hikers use the same trail, be careful walking or riding because it can get kind of tight through the winding trails.
