Since 1977, Esther's Follies has been an Austin comedy institution, keeping central Texas audiences laughing with sketch comedy, satirical musical numbers and an honest-to-goodness magic show. Keeping Vaudeville alive in the truest sense of performance, the intimate stage houses some of Austin's best all-around talents who write and perform their own material. Think of it as our very own Texas-themed Saturday Night Live that also performs on Thursdays and Fridays.
The late-night shows are perhaps the most fun due to the large picture window behind the stage that opens up to Sixth Street and its oft-intoxicated patrons looking for an audience. The Follies cast are often outside, inviting said passers-by to interact with the show in progress. Sunday through Wednesday, the space is also open for corporate parties and private Esther's shows.
