The Off Center is the funky East side home base of the Austin-based theater troupe Rude Mechanicals. Tucked behind some of 7th Street's constant construction, the space is large enough to accommodate audiences, but small enough to keep their signature new works intimate and engaged. The Center consists of a primary theater space, the outdoor patio/box office and the attached Off Shoot, home of the nonprofit theater education program Girl Action.
