Open Room Austin
Open Room Austin is maybe the last thing you'd expect to see in a public park: a long table with a lace tablecloth, aluminum benches, and four red standing chandeliers. These exaggerated furniture pieces are a part of a public art installation created by the artistic team of Rosario Marquardt and Roberto Behar as part of the City of Austin's Art in Public Places campaign. As a way to juxtapose real life with artistic expression, the installation challenges the belief that art is separate from the everyday events of life. Onlookers are invited to use the pieces as they see fit, overlaying their own stories over the piece of art.
