Contained in the palatial Texas Memorial Museum, the Texas Natural Science Center contains an impressive collection of specimens from the fields of paleontology, geology, biology, herpetology, ichthyology and entomology based on research happening at UT. The most exciting exhibits focus on dinosaurs and fossils but there are great things to learn about Texas wildlife and local gems and minerals. Tours are held on the regular so you'll likely run into scientists and elementary school kids during the weekdays.
