There are two primary reasons to become a regular at Abel's. First off, it's the perfect place to take out-of-towners (and forgetful in-towners) to look out over the Lake during dinner and brag about how beautiful Austin is at sunset. Otherwise, you're an avid sports fan and you can't get enough of the 360-degree views of TV screens or the 67 beers on tap at this upscale version of a hometown sports bar.
The food is decent bar fare, with the fried appetizers earning the most acclaim. The beer is a bit pricier than it would be on Sixth Street, but that's owing to the fact that you can have your pitchers out on the patio with some of the best views in town.
This is the perfect place for private parties and special occasions for all the reasons mentioned above.
