Everyone agrees the Broken Spoke is the most famous "true" honky tonk dance hall in the world. But did you know it also boasts the best chicken fried steak in Texas? Willie Nelson calls it his favorite, so who are we to disagree? The meals are big and inexpensive with a focus on burgers, barbecue and Tex-Mex dishes. Long necks are the beverage of choice, but the margaritas and Bloody Mary's are worth noting as well. The historical Spoke moves at the same speed it has since it opened in 1964.
Make sure to visit owner James White's Tourist Trap Room to see his country music memorabilia. You'll likely run into White himself and get a story or two in the process. And if you are a lady with two mobile legs, you will be asked to dance by at least one charming cowboy.
