Maudie’s has won numerous awards over the years for its Tex-Mex food and fresh-squeezed margaritas. With six successful city restaurants, Maudie’s has become a true tradition in Austin and fans — many of whom have been frequenting the restaurant since childhood — are fiercely loyal.
The sign outside says "Tex-Mex Heaven," and this North Lamar location delivers on its promise, so don't be deterred by the strip mall exterior. Inside, the restaurant is small, cozy and lit by light-fixtures made out of soda bottles. Arrive early to avoid too long of a wait on Fridays and Saturdays.
