Stepping into a Threadgill's Restaurant is like taking a time machine trip back to the heyday of Austin's rise to prominence as the Live Music Capital of the World. While not the original location where Janis Joplin honed her craft, The Threadgill's World Headquarters holds plenty of county nostalgia. Local and touring acts still play the indoor and outdoor stages three nights a week, keeping the neon-lit dining room at a head-nodding, foot-tapping pace. The delicious downhome Southern food comes on blue plates, square meals like chicken fried steak and fried catfish that are guaranteed to leave you stuffed. And if you haven't filled up on the homemade jalapeno corn bread and muffins, you're welcome to seconds of all your vegetables--just like grandma would do.
The weekday "Howdy Hour" happens from 3 - 6pm.
