For true film buffs, The Alamo Drafthouse is the definitive place to catch movies in Austin. With their tirelessly original programming, The Alamo delivers good times with movie classics and plenty of themed interactive fun, including a full menu of theatre-friendly meals and drinks. Most days of the week are grab bags of popcorn blockbusters, but expect to see regular special guest speakers and first-time screeners here, as well. The South Lamar location is also conveniently located in the same strip mall as the Alamo's adult fun center, The Highball, which features bowling, karaoke, food and drinks to keep your evening going all day and night. With different events and movie listings at the four Alamo locations throughout Austin, you can basically find something great to do any night of the week.
You'll want to arrive at least thirty minutes prior to your movie starting so you can order food and drinks (beer + wine sold here), get good seats and catch the themed pre-show movie and commerical clips the Alamo has put together for each film they show.
Best to also order your tickets online as opening weekend films and special events sell out especially quickly.
