Austin Museum of Art Downtown
|
Originally built from the impressive collection of Texas legend Clara Driscoll, the Austin Museum of Art has grown in four decades into Austin's principal community art museum. With art classes and educational programming as a central focus, the AMOA has become an integral part of the Austin landscape. The accessible downtown space fits perfectly into the busy city environment, a quiet haven from the traffic and construction outside. This is the primary exhibition site and features prominent nationally renowned visual artists as well as emerging local talents. To compliment the priceless works of art on the walls or under glass, there are also a number of hands-on exhibits for kids and adults to enjoy. Tours, performances and talks about the national exhibits are scheduled regularly throughout the space as are private functions and community activities.
There is a parking garage partly dedicated to the museum on the corner of 9th and Brazos.
