Cactus Cafe
|
In a town full of legendary music stages, the Cactus Cafe is one of Austin's greats. Opened in 1979, the intimate cabaret-style stage has housed some of the most legendary names in blues, country and folk including Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams, Ani DiFranco, Alison Krauss and Patty Griffin. The venue has survived countless funding cuts and remains to this day an integral piece of UT's and Austin's living history. Plus, where else can you drink in a University building?
The Cactus Cafe is located on the bottom floor of the UT Texas Union building, across the street from the University Co-Op. Parking can be difficult on campus, but visitors lots are available behind the Co-Op.
