The Canary Roost
|
If you like smaller audiences and shorter waiting times to sing, The Canary Roost is your karaoke bar. Just like its big sister up on Burnet, The "Roost" packs in a truly diverse crowd every night thanks to their friendly service and encouraging atmosphere. Diamond Karaoke runs the nightly sing-along, and their playbooks contain over 20,000 songs so you're likely to find the perfect song for the occassion. The swiveling cushioned seats, pool table and nearby eateries make it easy to spend a lot of hours here. And if you need more convincing, the bartenders at the wrap-around bar are happy to pour you a stiff ounce of courage for your local American Idol audition.
Make sure to arrive early on weekend nights as the sign-up for song times fills up quickly. Tipping your KJ will also ensure a good spot on the list.
The National Karaoke League holds weekly competition rounds at this location on Wednesday nights throughout the year. To join, visit their website and get in on a weird little piece of Austin magic.
