Franklin Barbecue
|
Talk proliferates Austin that Franklin Barbecue has arguably the best BBQ in town, and with one trip to their new storefront on the East side, you'll see the talk isn't unfounded. Arriving at Franklin even an hour before it opens, you can't find a line less than 30 people deep. It's that good. Brisket is Franklin's specialty, served either on a plate or in a sandwich. Also on the chopping block are ribs, pulled pork, sausage and pork butt. Franklin is one of those you've-got-to-taste-it-to-believe-it kind of places. But remember that if you're heading that way, arrive early and be prepared to wait--sometimes up to two hours--for your mouthwatering plate of meat. The next most important tip? Franklin closes up shop once they run out of food, which sometimes can be around 12:30pm or earlier, so don't be too let down if you don't get in.
Franklin used to operate out of a trailer, but moved into a brick and morter space in 2011.
