Hill's Cafe
|
Hill's Cafe puts all its fried eggs in the "old Austin aesthetic" basket, and it's a pretty charming payoff. The setting plays it safe with a limited palate of dark browns, light browns, and grey-browns highlighted by neon signs and deer heads. If you're not a fan of diner fare, you might be ambivalent about Hill's menu. But those in the mood for giant entree platters featuring comfort foods like chicken fried steak and cornbread will marvel at Hill's indulgent offerings. Also, the burgers here (with those warm, soft buns) are enough to convert anyone looking for a new favorite.
The open face chili cheeseburger isn't on the menu anymore, but it's delicious enough to ask for by name.
