Built inside the original Hoffheinz General Store, Moonshine is an Austin institution built on classic Southern comfort food served up with a touch of sophistication. Surrounded by exposed brick, dark leather seating and warm lighting, the dining experience feels familial and nostalgic. The "supper" menu features hearty portions of perfectly sauced cuts of meats with a vegetable and a side, the way your great-grandmother would have cooked if she was a trained culinary expert. The salads also make great meals with plenty of flavorful ingredients and dressings. Meals are big enough to share, which allows you to nearly fill up with the amazing appetizer offerings, like homemade potato chips with blue cheese dressing. But make sure you save room for their desserts. The signature Skillet Apple Pie is served hot with maple ice cream, and it's one of the most transcendent flavors in Austin.
The all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch is to die for (you can go back to the buffet as many times as you'd like) and features $3.50 mimosas and Bloody Marys. Happy hour runs from 3:30 - 6:30pm and features half-price appetizers and $4.00 cocktails and wines.
Parking is tricky in this area of downtown, so we suggest going with the valet.
