Phara's

Phara's Cuisine and Christopher's Casbah gets its name from a mother who lost her son to Cystic Fibrosis, but not before he left a legacy of mentorship to others struggling with his condition. Today, Christopher's goodwill pervades the Mediterranean eatery with a resilient spirit and striking atmosphere. Phara's casbah setting provides textbook examples of great hookah, hummus, and kebab menus. However, it's the cool blues, ornate tapestries, live Eastern European music, and belly-dancing performances from Phara herself that create an almost magical sense of community. Phara's does an amazing thing - balancing the seemingly-alien characteristics of a foreign country with the welcomeness and openness of Austin's culture - and the result is one-of-a-kind.
Hookah happy hour is Tuesday through Thursday from 6 to 7. If you plan for dinner at 5, you'll make perfect time to hit the lounge with friends afterwards.
