Widely acknowledged as Austin's first coffee bar, Captain Quackenbush's Intergalactic Desert Company and Espresso Cafe opened on the Drag in 1983. The name is shorter and the location changed but the hip, Austin tone remains. Quack's uses only fresh ingredients and takes great pride in serving only coffee roasted right here in Austin. They even serve "fair trade" coffee for those with a global conscience. Their baked goods are made by hand with no trans-fats and no preservatives. Baked goods, a deli, coffee; you could sit here all day.
Go after 6pm and "buy 1, get one free" on any of the pastries!
