Shangri La
|
Shangri-la: The first east side spot to be discovered by "the rest of the city." It remains the first and last place of the night to see and be seen in Austin's creative circles. Imbibers spend hours going back and forth from the inside bar to the outside tables, music blares from the trees over the buzz of the crowd and drinks are practically given away at just two bucks a pop (happy hour runs until 9pm). It's a dive in the most delightful way with an expansive outdoor area where you're bound to find at least one piece of tattooed eye-candy. The bartenders are impressively nice for such a busy place, but let us tell you one thing: the security staff does not screw around.
Friday and Saturday nights are the most crazy; usuals tend to frequent during the week and have the place to themselves.
The Second Sunday Sock-Hop consistently draws rave reviews for the dancing, the DJ's and the mingling.
