Tamale House
|
The Tamale House on Airport Boulevard is one of Austin's best kept secrets. To prepare you, it's a total hole-in-the-wall, with years of grime and ground-in dirt lining the walls and floors. Second, there are only a few tables, so likely you won't get to sit down here. Finally, there are no actual tamales on the menu. But the food on the menu is so good and so cheap, long lines of laborers, students and hung-over hipsters line up out the door just about every morning. Luckily, the management keeps things moving quickly and, again, the food is so good and so cheap.
To avoid the lines and find a seat, we advise getting there before 10am when the hipsters descend in droves.
