Waterloo Ice House Escarpment Boulevard
|
Since the original Waterloo opened on Congress Ave. back in the 70s, this local insitution has become a welcome destination for all kinds of Austinites. On any given night, you'll find college students watching the game at the bar, business folks meeting in the back room and families enjoying dinner together in the corner booths. The extensive menu is a free-for-all of American, Southern and Tex-Mex favorites to please any Austin palate. Breakfast is pretty standard for our city with migas, biscuits and gravy and pancakes at the forefront. For lunch and dinner, the burgers are the most popular menu items, but don't overlook the tacos or chicken platters which feature a variety of sauces, sides and toppings. While you enjoy your meal, sit back and enjoy the live music that happens most nights. After all, this is the joint that helped launch the careers of musicians like Lyle Lovett and Uncle Walt's Band. There are now nine different locations throughout the Austin area, and each is a little different but feature the same menu items.
