Chelsea: Can You Handle Her?
Chelsea Handler keeps comedy party going with spring Austin tour date
Ever the strategic minx, Chelsea Handler will hit Austin's sweet spot this spring when she brings her act to the local stage right after March's SXSW Comedy highjinks die down and shortly before the Moontower Comedy Festival revs up.
Handler will be in at the Bass Concert Hall to give a temporarily comic-overload-deprived Austin a comedy lift on on Sunday, March 30, as part of a 30-city tour.
The tour, in support of her forthcoming book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, will start on March 4 in New York City. Before her Austin stop, Handler will visit Dallas on March 28 and Houston on March 29.
Handler has been one of the few female standups to break through in the male-dominated profession. She's hosted her own talk show, Chelsea Lately, on the E! network since 2007. She also had a short-lived NBC series, Are You There, Chelsea?, that was based on another of her books, Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea.
Handler's appeal is often her lack of inhibition, whether it's laying bare her personal life on her talk show, tweeting out a revealing photo or going toe-to-toe with Conan O'Brien while stark naked.
Tickets for Handler's tour go on sale via her website starting on Friday, January 17, but American Express card holders can buy tickets early January 9-13.
Oh, and if you do happen to go, make sure to follow her rules outlined in the above video. She's a stickler that way.
