Former first daughter and current Today show correspondent Jenna Bush Hager gave birth to a baby girl Saturday night in New York. The newest member of the Bush family is named Margaret Laura "Mila" Hager, according to a statement released by the proud grandfather, former President George W. Bush, Sunday afternoon.

Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild, Margaret Laura ‘Mila’ Hager…She was born last night, April 13 at 8:43 p.m. in New York City. We met our beautiful granddaughter today. Jenna and Mila are healthy. And our family is elated.”

In keeping with tradition, the baby is named after both grandmothers. Jenna and twin sister Barbara were named after their grandmothers as well.

In an interview with CultureMap during New York fashion week in February, Hager said that she and her husband, a principal at the New York investment firm KKR, did not know in advance the baby's gender but would wait until the birth to find out.

"I've been really lucky. I've had a super-mild pregnancy. I'm just enjoying it. I'm working a lot, which is making it go by really fast," she said.

The couple had announced the pregnancy on the Today show last December. This is the first child for the Hagers, who married in 2008, and the first grandchild for the former president and first lady.
