Name: Emily Wolfe

City of origin: Austin, Texas

Genre: Rock

In one sentence: "[A] transcendent songstress, we’re shown the ease with which Wolfe can slip from delicate folk and slide effortlessly into a more aggro atmosphere." -

Why we chose her: After years spent skirting the edge of fame, we have every belief that 2014 is Wolfe's year to shoot to super stardom. In 2012, Wolfe self-released her first album Director's Notes which was featured in heavy rotation on KUT and, later, KUTX. The following year, the singer-songwriter released two EPs: Mechanical Hands and Night & Day. In February, Wolfe released a single entitled "Swoon" which many, including MTV, are applauding as a dynamic departure for the Austinite.

SXSW official showcase: 11 pm on Thursday, March 13 at Esther's Follies.
