New Year's Eve for Real
Austin will finally celebrate its 'postponed' New Year's Eve this spring
In December, Austin city officials decided to unceremoniously "postpone" New Year's Eve 2014 until the weather got better. (To be fair, it was sorta cold that day and it did lightly mist.)
As a result of the postponement, Austin was gently mocked by people across the world. Yes, even the Canadians poked fun. They can mock no longer because we officially have New Year's Eve back.
This week, the City of Austin announced it's expanding the New Year's Eve celebration into a three-day, family-friendly and alcohol-free event called Step Into Spring. Taking place at the Mueller development, Step Into Spring will feature musical performances, special events at the Thinkery and screenings of vintage cartoons courtesy of The Paramount Theatre.
