The Backyard celebrates its 20th anniversary with Willie Nelson and Leon Russell
The Backyard, the beloved outdoor music venue on the edge of Bee Cave, celebrates a 20-year legacy of live music this Sunday, July 7. In true Texas fashion, The Backyard's 20th anniversary party will be an all-day affair featuring a host of classic and contemporary Texas legends.
Headlining the party is the one and only Red Headed Stranger, himself, Willie Nelson. He'll close down the night after a set by legendary session player — and rock 'n' roll great — Leon Russell, whose live set is a must-see for lovers of rock and blues. (The two old pals just played Willie's Fourth of July Picnic in Fort Worth.)
The music starts just after noon, but the parking lot opens at 10 a.m., giving Nelson fans plenty of time to indulge in a proper "Bloody Mary Morning." Leon Russell plays at 7:30 p.m., followed by a quick interlude from Folk Uke before Nelson hits the stage at 9 p.m.
The full lineup is as follows:
- Beto y Los Fairlanes, 12:15 p.m.
- Kimberly Kelly, 12:40 p.m.
- Zack Walther, 1:20 p.m.
- Bleu Edmondson, 2:10 p.m.
- Kristen Kelly, 3 p.m.
- Jason Boland, 4:05 p.m.
