Austin Bergstrom International Airport celebrates a record-breaking year
KVUE -- 2012 was a record year at Austin Bergstrom International Airport, with more than 9.4 million passengers coming from all over the world.
ABIA says they've seen consistent growth over the past three years. Austin was ranked number one in job creation in 2012 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics, and is also listed as Forbes magazine's fastest growing city.
With all of the buzz about Austin, people who live here say record numbers at the airport is no surprise.
ABIA says the Formula 1 race in November set a new record with nearly 22,000 people departing the Monday after the event.
SXSW is coming up next month. The event will bring millions of people to Austin, and you can bet a lot of them will get to hear some live music as soon as they step off the plane.
