Meet Mark McClain, Austin’s most loved CEO. At least according to reviewers on Glassdoor.
The founder and CEO of Austin-based data security software maker SailPoint Technologies is the fifth highest rated CEO among small and midsize businesses in the U.S., according to Glassdoor's Employees’ Choice Awards for 2016.
The job and recruiting website determined winners by assessing the quantity and consistency of Glassdoor-approved company reviews shared by employees between May 2015 and May 2016. Glassdoor says McClain earned a 99 percent approval rating from reviewers. He's the only CEO of an Austin-based company to make an appearance; it’s also his first time on the list.
“Mark directs and drives the overall vision and strategy for SailPoint, which is underpinned by his commitment and passion for building top-performing teams, creating a collaborative and innovative work environment, and focusing continuously on the needs of customers,” according to McClain’s bio on the SailPoint website.
Aside from leading SailPoint, McClain is chairman of the Austin Technology Council, a nonprofit that represents the interests of tech and life sciences companies in the Austin area.
Glassdoor also revealed rankings of the top 50 CEOs of large employers in the U.S. No Austin CEO appears on that list.
Charles Butt, CEO of San Antonio-based grocery chain H-E-B, lands at No. 17, down from No. 3 last year. Butt received a 95 percent approval rating from employee reviewers on Glassdoor during the 2015-2016 period. He’s the only Texas CEO on the list of large employers.
