Getting around town has just gotten easier for those south of Austin. Uber launched service in San Marcos and Hays County on Friday.
The City of San Marcos granted Uber a permit to operate earlier this week. Sample fares from Uber show that residents can get from The Square to Bobcat Stadium for about $4. A ride from the Avenue Apartments near Texas State University to Sixth Street in Austin averages $13.
"While I have been pleased with the transportation options currently available to our citizens, additional options for our residents and visitors is not only a great idea, but one that contributes to our goal of reducing the number of intoxicated drivers on the streets," said San Marcos Police Chief Chase Stapp in a press release.
To celebrate, Uber is offering five free rides up to $20 in San Marcos between July 10-17. Us the code "SANMARVELOUS" to redeem.
