The Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards honors the best and brightest films and filmmakers with deep roots in the Lone Star State. This year’s 13th annual celebration hosted by the Austin Film Society will shine a special spotlight on Richard Linklater’s coming of age cult hit Dazed and Confused with its prestigious Star of Texas Award — and it will be presented by a high profile fan of the Texas film, Quentin Tarantino.

Tarantino, director of instant classics Django Unchained and Pulp Fiction, has always expressed his love for Linklater’s film, especially in 2002 when he included it on his personal list of the top 10 greatest films in a Sight and Sound poll.

The Star of Texas Award commemorates the 20th anniversary of Dazed and Confused, which the Austin Film Society will also mark with special screenings and a cast reunion at the Marchesa Hall and Theatre on March 6 — the eve of the actual Hall of Fame awards ceremony.

Tarantino joins other high profile presenters at the awards ceremony including Jack Fish, Julie Hagerty, Michael McKean, Rob Reiner and Sissy Spacek; Annette O’Toole, Henry Thomas, Stephen Tobolowsky and Robin Wright comprise the impressive group of honorees.
