Austin taqueria Tacodeli is expanding to Dallas and is slated to open mid-2015 in the Sylvan Thirty development at 1818 Sylvan Ave. This will be the sixth branch of Tacodeli, but the first outside of Central Texas.
The menu will include more than 40 taco varieties, including the iconic cowboy taco with tenderloin, grilled corn, caramelized onions and roasted peppers; a chicken taco with Monterey Jack cheese and sautéed poblanos and onions; a fish taco with Gulf Coast drum, mojo-garlic sauce, guacamole and pico de gallo; and breakfast tacos and daily specials.
Tacodeli was founded in 1999 by Roberto Espinosa, who was inspired by the flavors of Mexico City. The chain gives lip service to the usual "source it local" mantra and gets its eggs from Vital Farms in Austin.
"Dallas has a great taco culture, and we are excited to be part of it," Espinosa says in a release. "Also, my business partner and co-owner Eric Wilkerson is from Dallas. It's particularly exciting to open one of our restaurants in his hometown, and we’re looking forward to serving our neighbors in West Dallas and Oak Cliff."
