Cult bagel company and coffee roaster team up for new South Austin cafe
A new coffee and bagel shop will be brightening up mornings in the Bouldin neighborhood. On July 1, Rosen’s Bagel Co. and Tiny House Coffee Roasters announced they are teaming up to open a new cafe in the upcoming WeWork event space at 801 Barton Springs Rd.
The concept, which is open to the public, will be the first brick-and-mortar for Tiny House Coffee, who previously focused on selling beans at local retailers and supplying nitro cold brew kegs to offices and restaurants throughout the Capital City. It will be the second outpost for Rosen’s after opening a shop inside Wright Bros. Brew and Brew in August 2017.
The new Rosen’s will allow it to expand the Brew and Brew menu of pizza bagels, sandwiches, and schmears to add options like eggs sandwiches for breakfast and a few additional spreads. It will also allow the company to grow its wholesale operations. (The bakery already supplies bagels to several local coffee shops, including Patika, Jo’s Coffee, and Flat Track.)
“We’re overjoyed at the positive response Austin has given our bagels and the growth we’ve been able to achieve,” says founder Tom Rosen in a release. “We’re always experimenting with new ways to make our offerings bigger and better and are excited to be able to show off some new things.”
In addition to the bagels, the cafe will also sell bowls from locally owned Lucky Lime, a company known for its health conscious meal delivery service. Patron can choose from Lucky Lime dishes like sweet potato bowls, veggie noodle bowls, and various salads.
For its part, Tiny House will take full advantage of the company’s roasting operations by serving drip coffee and a full menu of espresso drinks.
The Rosen’s and Tiny House cafe will debut sometime in July. Once opened, it will be open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch.
