Chuck's Eat the Street heads to Austin's burgeoning restaurant row for season premiere
Beloved Lamar Boulevard will be in the spotlight on Thursday night when the Chuck's Eat the Street season premiere airs on the Cooking Channel. Host Chuck Hughes continues his quest to find the best dishes in America with a detour to Austin, where he focuses on one particular street that is witnessing quite the restaurant boom.
Hughes' first stop isn't much of a surprise. He starts at the grandfather of modern Austin cuisine, Uchi, where he meets with Chef de Cuisine Jeramie Robison. From there, Hughes heads south to Bryce Gilmore's latest brick-and-mortar, Odd Duck, where he prepares the famed pork belly slider.
But the final two destinations on Hughes' culinary trek, while still located on Lamar Boulevard, are off the beaten path. For authentic Mexican fare, he visits El Meson, the beloved restaurant tucked away by the Horseshoe Lounge. And since no trip to Texas would be complete without 'cue, Hughes' finishes off the trip at Stiles Switch.
That's just a taste of what the episode has to offer. To watch Lamar Boulevard in all its glory, tune into the Cooking Channel on Thursday, July 10 at 9 pm.
