The Anderson Lane culinary corridor is heating up with the addition of Rebel Pizza Bar, a new project from the team behind Suzi's China Grill. The project, announced Thursday, will open late summer 2015.
Rebel Pizza Bar — located above the freshly remodeled Suzi's China Grill on Shoal Creek Boulevard — will serve as a relaxed neighborhood hang and a quick dining stop. The North Austin joint will serve up thin-crust pizzas with locally sourced ingredients. Rebel Pizza Bar will also feature a full bar with craft beer and cocktails.
The prime spot boasts a large outdoor rooftop patio with plenty of seating, a Bocce ball area, multiple televisions, and views of the Shoal Creek area. Inside, the restaurant will feature graffiti by local artists.
The project comes from owner Suzi Yi and consultants Frank and Nina Seely. "Just like Suzi's, we bring our dedication to hospitality and great food in a casual atmosphere. We think that those combined elements coupled with Rebel's unique feel and spirit, will be a big draw to the neighborhood and Austin locals," said Yi in a press release.
Chef Alex Kahn, formerly of NoRTH and Trento, has been tapped create the signature dishes. "We see the menu as no-fuss, easy to order and also delicious," Kahn said. In addition to the wide range of specialty pizzas, patrons can nosh on appetizer and dessert options.
