Two new food and drink spots are opening soon in Austin's Mueller district. Austin coffeehouse-lounge Halcyon and San Antonio pizza favorite Stella Public House will debut new flagship locations at Mueller in September.
The sister concepts will be located at 1905 Aldrich St., and they will open in tandem, according to a release. Executive chef Roland Aguirre will lead both kitchens and put "an Austin spin on his popular menus."
The first Halcyon location opened at Fourth and Lavaca streets in Austin in the early 2000s. Earlier this year founders John Long and Kris Hardy launched a crowd-funding campaign to assist with the Mueller location, as well as a Dallas branch.
The new Mueller flagship will have an expanded kitchen, and Halcyon will serve made-from-scratch comfort food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, seven days a week. Yes, you will still be able to get your morning coffee, along with wine, beer, and cocktails at night.
Stella Public House opened in San Antonio in 2013 in the hip Blue Arts Complex. It's known for wood-fired pizza and a big craft beer menu. The "farm-to-pizza" concept also has an outpost in San Diego.
Look for the new hot spots to open in the Aldrich Street District, next to Mueller Lake Park, early next month.
