The Food Network ventured into Austin earlier this year to find dynamic duos for its newest show, Food Truck Face Off. Locals flocked to the casting call in hopes that their food truck concept might win them their own restaurant on wheels.
In the end, eight Austin teams were selected for the show, which filmed two episodes around town. Each episode of Food Truck Face Off features four new teams presenting their food truck ideas to the judges. The two teams with the best concepts face off in a two-day battle and the winning team takes home the grand prize: their very own food truck for a year.
Host Jesse Palmer hits the streets of Austin with food truck wannabes on the "Showdown on South Congress" episode, which airs October 2. Watch for struggles on day one, when one team wrestles with flavors and fryers and the other proves its concept promises more than it delivers. On day two, the teams go up against some of Austin's well-loved food trucks at a popular (but undisclosed) venue.
While the Food Network won't divulge more details about the local teams, you can tune into the show on Thursday, October 2 at 7 pm to find out which new food truck concept will be rolling around Austin in the near future. A second Austin episode will air later in the season.
