Comics and ice cream! Life doesn't get much better than that when you're a kid, or kid at heart. On Friday night, fans of The Intergalactic Nemesis, Book Two: Robot Planet Rising enjoyed both as a part of the inaugural CultureMap Lounge at the Long Center for the Performing Arts.

Members of the CultureMap Lounge got a chance to sip a few cocktails before the show, while kids had the chance to eat their weight in Amy's Ice Cream, who served up a special "Intergalactic Nemesis" chocolate sundae.

The Intergalactic Nemesis writer and creator, Jason Neulander, who's been recognized on Conan O'Brien, NPR and most recently the Wall Street Journal, proved fame hasn't gone to his head. Neulander greeted guests of the CultureMap Lounge one by one and gave exclusive backstage tours during intermission so Lounge-goers could see the inner-workings of the acclaimed production.

After a successful world premiere of Book Two, the Intergalactic Nemesis team will be taking this live action graphic novel — created right here in Austin — on the road to more than 30 cities. They can be assured fans of all ages in Austin will be cheering them on along the way.
