The lowdown: On February 22, the state's top artists and creators were honored at the biennial Texas Medal of Arts Awards. Recognizing "amazing Texans who have made powerful contributions to the arts here at home and around the world," the awards are given by the Texas Cultural Trust. Host Debbie Allen led guests through the ceremony, which started with pink carpet cocktails and included performances from Conspirare, Vikki Carr, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Nizhoni Begay, and Luke Westerman.
