Low-cost airline adds nonstop flights from Austin to San Francisco and more
Frontier is moving on over to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport's South Terminal (yes, the airport has another terminal) and celebrating the relocation news with two new nonstop flights.
As of November 15, all flights by the Denver-based discount airline will take off from the second terminal, which also services Allegiant and Via Air.
“The South Terminal and Frontier are an excellent fit and creates a growth opportunity for both the South Terminal and Frontier,” said Jeff Pearse, CEO of Lonestar Airport Holdings, which operates the South Terminal. “We look forward to hosting Frontier passengers and treating them to our Austin experience, South Terminal style.”
Passengers can experience that "South Terminal style" en route to Chicago and San Francisco, the airline's newest seasonal nonstop routes from Austin, according to a November 16 release. Frontier will take off with its new flight to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport beginning on April 30, 2019. Its new route to San Francisco International Airport begins on May 10, 2019.
The move inside ABIA comes following a big expansion year for Frontier. In 2018, the airline rapidly expanded its Austin service launching 19 new flights in April alone. Now offers 21 different nonstop destinations, making it Austin's fifth busiest airline.
