On December 6, Fodor's Travel Guide, the beloved travel companion found on parents' bookshelves the world over, released its selections for the 100 Most Incredible Hotels in the World. Once again, San Antonio's Hotel Emma has claimed the crown.

The Fodor's collection, back after a four-year hiatus, is called "the definitive list of the best hotels in the world," breaking up the list into 10 hotels across 10 geographic regions across the globe. Hotel Emma was not only among the top 10 in the U.S., it was the only Texas hotel to make an appearance.

Now, at this point, the Pearl hotel has racked up no shortage of impressive accolades, but Fodor's takes particular care to applaud the Emma not just for its service, but for its impeccable renovation. Calling it a "designer dream," the stalwart travel company says that much of the hotel's 19th century charm — high ceilings, rows of windows, beautifully tiled floors —  is what lends itself to such a five-star experience.

"Travelers increasingly seek unique, memorable experiences when traveling —  and that includes the hotels they choose to stay in," Jeremy Tarr, editorial director of Fodors.com, said in a release.

Editors also note Hotel Emma's impeccable library, rooftop pool with skyline view, and renowned Sternewirth bar as standout amenities.

As mentioned, Hotel Emma was the only Texas property to appear on the list. Other best U.S. hotels and resorts include glamping destination Collective Yellowstone in Big Sky, Montana; the tony Colony Hotel in Palm Beach; the classic Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City; celeb hot spot Dunton Hot Springs in Dunton, Colorado; and cult-worthy Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe.
