Let the sunshine in: Lighten up your spring wardrobe with not-so-mellow yellow

A color guaranteed to brighten up your day (and your wardrobe) is yellow. This yummy hue took over the runways for spring and will definitely be playing a role in my spring ensembles.This sunny shade will perfectly complement your bronzed summer skin. For just a pop of color, try a small crossboy bag, tribal necklace or some fun frilly sandals. When choosing what shade of yellow to buy, try to remember how you will incorporate it with other pieces in your closet.

For a more casual look, choose a more subtle, pale yellow, like the items in the top row here. Wear it with white, other pastels or go high-contrast with black as seen in Diane Von Furstenberg, Phillip Lim and T by Alexander Wang spring 2012 collections.

For a night out, pick a bold, brighter shade like neon or marigold.
