The lowdown: The 2017 Texas Tribune Festival programming kicked off with an opening keynote conversation between Texas Tribune co-founder and CEO Evan Smith and former SNL comedian and United States Sen. Al Franken. Afterwards, VIPs, including politicians, journalists, and political activists gathered at UT's Harry Ransom Center to mix and mingle while enjoying live music and food provided by local favorite Uchi.
