Trudy's North Star
It's not quite Mexican food; it's spicier and best when covered in queso. With its wide array of creams, sauces and spices, you'll love Trudy's take on traditional Mexcian flavors. Start with the Queso Especial, combining the flavors of guacamole, pico and cheese. The wait time can be a bit of a bear, especially on game days, so luckily you can spend the time in their fully stocked bar. Compliment your mealtime with their famous top-shelf Mexican Martini — it's strong, so the limit is two.
A popular gathering spot for North Austin, Trudy's North Star opened in 1988. It's a big place, great for family dining and happy hour gatherings. Recent additions include an outside patio, a separately ventilated smoking area for diners, and an upstairs bar the bar has over 20 beers on tap and a wide selection of premium liquors. On weekends, North Star offers an all-you-can-eat brunch with a bevy of food to choose from: from waffles to migas and stuffed avocados. Spend a few hours here, and you'll be stuffed too.
